RETIREMENT PARTY HONOURS LYTHAM IN BLOOM LADIES

After completing 19 years service apiece, volunteers Denise Holden and Susan Evans bow out of their respective roles at Lytham in Bloom.

Long serving committee member and current Chairman Susan Evans and committee member Denise Holden were guests of honour as Lytham in Bloom volunteers and supporters gathered at the Queens Hotel in Lytham to express their thanks to the retiring couple.

Trevor Mackey and Greg Anderton present Susan and Denise with fitting gifts for their long service!

Recently retired Chairman Carol Wildon drove up from her new home in the Isle of Wight to be part of the special occasion. Carol recently completed 20 years as a Lytham in Bloom volunteer and was determined to share the evening with her two friends.

Susan joined Lytham in Bloom after being nominated as Best Cottage Garden in the 1999 Lytham in Bloom Community Awards Scheme. This popular scheme still continues today and like many other Lytham in Bloom activities has grown year upon year. Denise accompanied her friend the first time they volunteered and has stayed by her side ever since.

Losing three long-serving and dedicated volunteers in less than twelve months is quite a blow to take, but so well respected is Lytham in Bloom that others are determined to fill the void and carry on the good work.

Susan and Denise will be having one last Hurrah when they attend the forthcoming Bloomin’ Marvellous fund raising event on Friday 17th May under the canopy outside Zest, Phil’s Bakery, Fat Face and Poppy in Lytham. As well as taking the opportunity to thank the event organisers, the ladies will be running the raffle along with other volunteers and are determined to give Lytham in Bloom the best possible send off.
