Lytham in Bloom have scooped their second Gold Medal in a week! Following on from our Gold in Britain in Bloom, we were named winners in the Coastal Town category of North West in Bloom at the Floral Hall, Southport. LIB were also named Best Small Coastal Resort in the hotly contested category.
More awards followed, with Lytham Hall Kitchen Gardens being named winners in the Grow Your Own class.
The Queens Hotel scooped Gold in the Small Accommodation category, Lytham Hall Park School and Nursery claimed an Outstanding Award, Lytham Railway Station grabbed Gold, Park View 4U were awarded Outstanding in the In Your Neighbourhood category, as well as Best Large Neighbourhood. Mythop Road Allotments bagged Outstanding and finally, Lowther Gardens won Gold in the Parks Award plus a discretionary award recognising its improvement.
Several other local towns and villages in the Fylde also won awards of various types in what was an outstanding day for our region.
Lytham in Bloom Chairman Susan Evans was understandably delighted with the outcome. ”We have done it again!” she said. “As ever, I cannot stress how much we owe to all our volunteers and supporters. The award is as much for them as it is for us.”
The ceremony, which was spread over three days, plays a vital role in recognising the tremendous efforts put into community projects by voluntary groups all over the North West. Being recognised for their work encourages organisations to achieve even greater things, all of which helps communities create civic pride which in turn benefits everybody in their neighbourhood.
